Bonnie is a 1-2 year old female Cross-Breed. Bonnie is a rescue from Cyprus, currently living with her foster family in Fareham, whilst she waits for her forever family to find her. Here is a little about her: Bonnie and one of her sisters ended up in a Cypriot council pound as puppies. They had no puppyhood and spent the first years of their lives in a cold cage with no toys, little care and no human contact. After being rescued by our charity, we flew them to the UK in January to help them in their search for a home. Bonnie has come a long way since arriving in the UK and now enjoys life.
Bonnie arrived in her foster home as a very scared and timid baby, who was afraid of anything and everything. Here is more of her story from her foster mum: “I can only imagine what her life was like before. She would flinch and cower at any movement or sound, and we were not able to make eye contact with her, though we could see how desperate she was for affection. It has taken a lot of time and patience, but Bonnie will now let us pet her, and has started playing with us and interacting more. She is the sweetest girl, and so gentle. She loves playing with and being around our other dogs, so would suit a home with another friendly, placid dog or two. She gets on well with cats; in fact, she shows no interest in them at all.
Bonnie is house trained, and will ask to go outside, but because of her fears, if she is worried or unsure, she may still have some accidents. She sleeps through the night, on her dog bed in our bedroom. She walks well on the lead but is still unsure of loud noises or new environments and can become scared. She will need some more training on her recall, as she is still learning to trust us. Because she is still a timid girl, she is not keen on getting in the car, but once in there doesn’t make a peep. She is 100% food oriented and gets extremely excited at feeding times. This is a good motivator for training.
Because of her fears and anxieties, we don’t think Bonnie would do well living with young children. She can be left for up to 4 hours, but as we also have two other dogs, we are unsure how she would cope being left alone, so as above, she would greatly benefit from having another dog. You will need patience and time to spend with this beautiful girl, getting her to trust you. So, if you have the love she desperately needs, please considering opening your heart and home to Bonnie.
If you would like this adorable girl to be part of your family, please contact us. She has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Minimum adoption donation of £275 applies. DOPTIONS SUBJECT TO HOME CHECK AND NEUTERING AGREEMENT. Post adoption support is available from our charity.
