Wendy is a 3 year old female Yorkshire Terrier Crossspayed bitch. This is how we wrote her story. Once upon a time in Eastern Europe there was a pretty little female dog who wasn’t sure how she ended up on the street, but she certainly couldn’t cope with it. Trying to cross the road one day she was shunted by a car, and suddenly the world was black and her head ached. After that her memories were of lots of voices and pain. She used her nose and her ears now to find things. She could recognise people’s voices and their smells. She trusted what she knew and the one she trusted and loved most was a gentle young man. This man held her and comforted her until three weeks ago when her life changed.

Her man came earlier than usual, and when she kissed him she tasted salty water on his face.He whispered into her fur and held her so tight. She began to fear! He put her in a crate inside a van. She could smell many other dogs had been here and all had feared. She cried to her man, let me out, come back for me; but he had gone and the van started to move. On the fifth day of travelling the van stopped, the smell of fresh air poured in. Where was she, was he here to lift her out of her prison cage? She was lifted but not by him, and in fright she snapped. She was taken to a strange house with new noises smells and people. She didn’t want these people, just him and she snapped again.

After thirty six hours another person came, and she was moved again. She snapped again. This was becoming a pattern. Nobody gave Wendy time to rest, sleep or grow accustomed to this new life.
Everybody wanted an instant dog! Five moves in two weeks. Then a breakthrough, She met another young man, then another and another. She was saved. Wendy is currently living with other dogs in foster and loves the two young men that she lives with. The fosterer tells us how much she loves to be loved. They talk to her all the time so that she cannot betaken by surprise and she navigates the home and garden very well using her sense of smell and ears.

An ideal adoptive home would be one where there is a strong male presence with people at home most of the day who have the time to patiently accustom Wendy to her new home.
