Saffie is a 2 year old female Cross-Breed. Saffie will need the commitment of a number of visits for her to bond with her new family and we are looking to place her with a family with already have a steady dog. Saffie, aged about 2, came to the rescue with her siblings, Sandie and Barnie. They were found as puppies in Bulgaria by a couple visiting, who had the intention to adopt them. They managed to get them to the UK but realised it was too much of a commitment and that the dogs would need to be rehabilitated by a rescue specialising in street dogs, before being up for adoption.
For the past 18 months, the team have worked daily with these dogs, and Saffie is now at a point where she is ready to be adopted. She is a wonderfully delicate and elegant dog, with the most beautiful personality, and whilst we have brought her forward to a point where she is able to live in a home, she still does need to improve in terms of her confidence. She is anxious about many aspects of life and she will need a patient and calm home, who will allow her to progress at her own pace with no pressure to be something she cannot be.
If you have a calm energy about yourself and are willing and able to give her a chance to be part of a family, she will be an incredibly rewarding dog to have, as we believe that she will progress beautifully in a home. Sadly what we can do to help Saffie now within a kennel environment has its limitations and we really hope to see an experienced home come forward for her as she deserves a chance at experiencing the good things that life has to offer.
Saffie is a very playful dog with other dogs and she gets on with all of them, which is one of her fantastic qualities. Our experience shows that such dogs need the support of other dogs to bring them forward so being with another confident dog will do her the world of good. We are not looking to place her in a family with children as we feel she needs a quieter home to progress. This girl is not a ‘ready-made’ youngster, but she is a dog who will appeal to the real rescuers of this world, committed to giving a home to a poor dog who has so much yet to discover of what this life has to offer.
We feel that Saffie’s true nature is a real gem waiting to be discovered. She will need to be visited a number of times before going to her new home. We have found that this works incredibly well for families adopting dogs who need the time to make a connection with strangers. Once in the home she will bring her family much happiness.
