Skip is a 1 year old male Terrier Cross. Stunning Skip is sadly looking for a new home as his owner is struggling to manage his behavioural issues and feels uneasy having him around the young grandchild who regularly visits. Poor Skip has only been in this home since January 2019 after being rescued from a free advert on Gumtree. After just a few weeks in his new home it became clear that Skip is quite an anxious little boy who desperately needs some help. Skip is very fearful of strangers, in particularly men and can be very reactive on walks. Skip’s current owner has been working with a behaviourist and he has already made fantastic progress in such a short space of time that we are confident he will continue to do so in the right home, with a committed and experienced owner.
Poor Skip is only a young boy who has so much potential, he is extremely loving and affectionate towards his owner but finds the outside world very daunting, which results in him displaying aggression when met with a situation he is not comfortable with, however he has never actually bitten anyone.
Skip can be reactive towards other dogs on walks if they react negatively towards him but he has socialised with calmer, older dogs without any issues. We do however feel that he is best as the only dog in the home. He does not like cats. Skip will need an adult only home and would be best suited to living in a female only household. He can be left alone for a couple of hours and has no reported separation anxiety.
Although Skip is absolutely adorable, his issues are challenging and will need to be taken seriously. Skip’s new owner must be prepared to make several visits to and from the rescue in order to form a bond with him. This will then progress into a slow introduction into the home so please do bare your location in mind should you wish to inquire about him. It is absolutely vital that Skip is placed in an experienced home with someone who can continue working through his issues. He is such a sweet boy underneath it all and desperately deserves a chance.
