Rosie – CT

Meet adoptable deaf, 5 year old American Bulldog girl Rosie who is looking for a loving forever home with no other pets so she can be the center of attention.

From her current caregiver: It pains me to even be writing this, but I have to rehome my deaf Rosie. Rosie was bought by a family for a christmas present and surrendered to a high kill shelter on Christmas Eve at 8 weeks old when they discovered she was deaf. She was adopted by a single mom but returned later when it became too much for the mom. A rescue stepped in and pulled her where she spent the next 4 years at their shelter. She lived in an outdoor kennel during the day and a crate at night. Until I saw her on Facebook in September 2018 and couldn’t get her out of my mind. I spent $400 to transport her from Georgia to Tennessee where I was living. From the first hour in our home, she and my female pit bull didn’t get along. After a few fights, I ended up separating them and rotating crate time. I’ve done this for the last 7 months. I have recently moved to Connecticut and was hoping that in a new environment she and my pittie would get along.

This past weekend, they got into a horrible fight and I am alone and could do nothing to stop it. I just had to wait until they either stopped or one killed the other. It was horrific. Rosie lost the fight and ended up with about 25 bite wounds. Rosie hates being in the crate away from me. She wants to be with me at all times. I can’t do this to her anymore. She deserves better. She deserves a family where there is no stress and she can be the only dog. She loves people, loves kids and even cats! She’s just not a fan of other dogs. She does get along with my male dog now even though they fought a few times at the beginning. So she really needs to be the only dog. Rosie is a sweet, gentle, 5 year old American Bully.

She is spayed , micro-chipped and current on her shots. She loves to play, run after the ball (she’s not good at bringing it back) and going for walks (very good on a leash),. She’s goofy sometimes, especially when she’s doing her zoomies! She’s so silly. She has never chewed up anything in my house (unlike my pit bull!) She is house trained and crate trained. She’s literally a perfect dog with exception of not getting along with other dogs. She’s not aggressive, but she has an energy that comes across wrong. The perfect home for Rosie would be one with a backyard that is fenced with someone that would like to train her even more because she’s very trainable. She knows hand signals pretty well but she could be so much better! Her perfect home would be with people that would play with her, take her for walks or car rides and also snuggle with her and get cozy (Cozy Rosey!) I live in southern Connecticut and would love to be able to visit her new home if possible! I love this dog so much, but her life with me is not the best. She deserves a better life even though my heart is breaking having to let her go.
