June DDR Rocker Puppy Sponsored Deaf Dogs and Puppies

The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster home that is committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure to match the dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts. The adoption screening process is very thorough. Each interested family must fill out an adoption application that asks lots of questions and a full list of references is required to be considered for adoption.

We work with shelters, rescues, private individual and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our program to make sure each deaf dog/puppy gets the individual training, socialization, and love to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and are here to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, there are many guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicants veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set each deaf pup up for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy program financially sponsors each deaf dog/puppy so the dogs can be spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescues and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf dog/puppy is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home.

It is our number one mission to make sure each deaf dog and puppy gets basic training, socialization. are in a loving and caring foster home where their confidence soars. Our partners set each deaf dog up for success. Jan – May 2019, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored a total of 50 deaf dogs and puppies into have been sponsored into rescue so far this year.

In June 2019, our Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 9 deaf dogs into the safe harbor of rescue so they can start on their new journey to finding their forever homes.

For the past five years Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 584 deaf dogs/puppies (as of 6/30/19) into rescue and we could not have done it without the full support of our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community so thank you, thank you, thank you for the bottom of our hearts! ~ Christina Lee and the entire DDR team

Leah – Ohio

Meet adoptable deaf Jack Russel Terrier mix Leah who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her and always keep her safe.

From her caregiver:

Leah is a 5 year old Jack Russel Terrier mix (approx 25 lbs) who is deaf – Because of this, she would do best in a home with no children as she is easily frightened. Leah found herself abandoned at a local shelter after her family split up. She has had a rough past and needs someone with patience and understanding – can you help? She is spayed, heart-worm negative and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in Northwest Ohio and transportation for rescues is available.

Khaleesi – FL.

Miramar FL – Khaleesi is a 6-month-old playful all white bull terrier puppy. Her mom was a mini bull terrier and her father was a standard bull terrier. Khaleesi is on the smaller side so we think she’s favoring her mom. We found out that she was deaf at around 2 months and have been working to train her in a way that she learns. When she has to go outside, she’ll run across the blinds at the back door or just bark at the door. She knows the signal for “sit” and “down”, but she’s really more interested in playing.

Khaleesi’s form of playing involves some nipping here and there, which would be fine but we have a toddler that explores around the house that we’ve had some close calls with. While she can’t hear you, she will definitely make sure that you can hear her wherever she is by barking. Khaleesi loves getting attention and will let you know when she wants more by barking or trying to play (nip) at your feet & hands. She does tire herself out quite easily and loves sleeping in dark cramped areas where she’ll feel cozy (under beds, couches, and shelves).

We are looking for a family that is willing to care and love her as much as we do. She is young and needs someone to make training/socialization/safety a priority. She is spayed and has all her vaccinations with paperwork.

Fetty – FL

This is adoptable, 3 year old deaf dog Fetty who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him and always keep him safe.

From his caregiver:  Fetty  is a 3 year old deaf Catahoula. He is very sweet once he gets to know you and trusts you. He is my shadow everywhere I go. He has one eye, deaf and is a very sweet boy. I just cannot afford the vet bills, grain free food and meds anymore.

Fetty has very sensitive ears and they get infected often. He does great with female dogs, I don’t know about males because I don’t have any others. He is territorial about his food so he should be fed separately from other dogs or animals. He loves his crate too so he is completely crate trained.

Marshall – Adopted

Update 7/09/19: Marshall has been adopted.

From Marshall: Hi, my name is Marshall and I am a Dalmatian boy. I am one year old and very handsome, don’t you think?
So here is what I like. Everything! I like kids, dogs, toys, running like the wind, food, treats, more kids, sleeping on foster mom’s bed, sleeping on my bed, learning tricks and new sign cues. We will soon see if I like to swim in the pool as soon as the weather gets warmer and I don’t know about cats yet. I love to chase butterflies so I may be a cat chaser as well.

I am deaf so I am learning sign language in my foster home so I can be a good boy. I am really good at sit and come. I am learning down and can also sit and wait for my “release word” (an okay sign) so I can get up and eat my dinner.
