Dog Handling Tips: Oscar – 3 year old male Terrier Cross

Handsome Oscar is a medium sized lad with a tan wirey coat and he weighs just 14 kg. Oscar needs a special home, with people with experience of shy dogs and a quiet household because Oscar was fearful when we first met him. He had never been out for a walk or met new people, everything was new for him. After Oscar was rescued, was sent to a foster home where he has improved a lot. He has learnt to enjoy the good things in life: a warm bed, good food and daily walks, which he loves. He is not shy anymore, just a little bit with new people, he has lost his fears and he’s become a really good boy. He is fostered with other dogs and he needs a home with other calm dogs. He is very sociable with other dogs, males and females. He can live with children.

Oscar was rescued in July 2017 from an illegal pound in Aviles, Asturias, Northwest of Spain. 156 dogs were caged in awful conditions by a lady with mental problems. Many dog rescues participated in the rescue of all these dogs, that hadn’t left their cages, not even for a walk, in many years.

Fosterer’s report: He walks very well on a lead, he doesn’t pull at all. He is house-trained and calm at home. However, he doesn’t like to be left alone at home. It would be ideal if he could be homed with someone who wouldn’t let him alone. Oscar is a very especial little boy, very sweet, very good-natured and loving. He deserves a great home so he can finish to come out of his shell and fully enjoy life at last. Current location is in a foster home in Spain can travel to the UK once he has a home to go to vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, Neutered, Microchipped, Pet Passport

For Dogs coming from Spain: This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog- microchip, passport, vaccines, tests for S European diseases, neutering (if old enough), parasite treatment and transport to the UK. We can not home dogs from Spain to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough. Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
