It’s that time of year again when people gather around the TV to enjoy the most watched sports game – the Super Bowl. For us, the Super Bowl is simply a reason to get together with friends and family to eat food and check out all of the new commercials. Oh, and don’t forget the Puppy Bowl! Nothing is cuter than watching puppies run around on a tiny football field to play with toys and each other. Whatever your plans are for the Super Bowl this year, I have a list of dog-friendly snacks for your Super Bowl party. Because let’s be honest – a party isn’t a party without the doggos.
Fruit is not only a delicious snack for doggos, but certain fruits are full of antioxidants and vitamins which can enhance your dog’s immune system. For your Super Bowl party consider making a fruit salad with blueberries, bananas, strawberries, mango, apples and watermelon. You can even freeze watermelon to create a longer lasting snack for the pups.
Cupcakes
Don’t forget the dessert! Whip up some homemade doggy cupcakes, and you’ll be sure to impress the dogs and humans with your sweet baking skills.
Homemade Dog Treats
I have plenty of other DIY dog treat recipes for you to choose from. Some of my most popular recipes are oatmeal peanut butter dog treats and banana peanut butter dog treats.
Peanut butter sandwiches
Have you ever thought about making some tiny peanut butter sandwiches for your dog?! All you have to do is put together a basic peanut butter sandwich (I use Sara Lee whole wheat white bread) and cut it into little squares. Of course you can make the squares bigger based on the size of your dog. Make sure the peanut butter you use does not contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs.
Chicken Salad
I have a delicious recipe for DIY chicken salad for dogs. Don’t worry – humans can eat it, too Wynston is a big fan, and 12/10 recommends.
Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard boil some eggs, peel off the shells and watch your dog enjoy! Make sure you skip the salt, as your pup doesn’t need all that sodium. This Super Bowl snack is easy to make and transport to any party.
Wynston and I will be bringing homemade dog treats and tiny peanut butter sandwiches to the Super Bowl party we’re attending this year. We have lots of dogs to share the snacks with, so we’ll have plenty in tow! Are you attending or hosting a Super Bowl party this year? We’d love to hear your plans!
