Dog Handling Tips: Ariet – 7 year old male English Setter

Ariet is a 7 year old male English Setter. He was rehomed to a lovely adopter back in January this year but unfortunately the adopter has health issues which mean that we are looking for a new home for Ariet. Ariet is a very loving and affectionate boy. He just loves attention and always wants to be close to people. He is calm around the house, great with all children and has also been great with all the dogs he has met, including two other dogs in the family. We also think he would be okay in a home with cats, although a slow and structured introduction should still be done.

In true setter style, he is very interested in birds and will stop in his tracks to stalk anything with wings! Most of his walks are on his lead at the moment but he does walk nicely on his lead, mostly to heal. He’s quite a confident dog, not spooked by traffic or town centres.

He’s currently walked for at least an hour a day as well as other trips out and about to do the school run, shops etc, he’s very used to going different places. Saying that, he is also fine when left alone at home for short periods of time and doesn’t show any separation anxiety.

We think he would do well in a home with another friendly dog too as he seems to like being part of a pack but is also happy as an only dog. He is great with small children in the home too.
