Reggie – 6 year old male Boxer Cross

Please meet Royal Reggie! Reggie is an approximately 6 year old Boxer cross. He was abandoned in a garden after his owner was evicted and despite the gate being open he was found asleep next to the resident cat on a pile of rubbish. Reggie has been neutered, vaccinated and chipped. He is proven with children and cats. He would like to be the only dog in the house but is fine meeting friendly dogs out on a walk. He is great in the car and was a perfect patient at the vets. Here’s what his foster family say about him!

Reggie (or ‘Ed because he has a big ‘ead!) is a calm, gentle, loving, well mannered gentleman.
What is he like? – ridiculously cuddly, likes you to have a hand on him at all times while snuggling (but will wander off if hot or move away the second you ask him to), beautiful manners, doesn’t beg, let’s you through a door first – he’d open your car door if he could, doesn’t dribble at all, loves being groomed and you can check him all over, wipe eyes, check teeth etc, so relaxed. Not even startled by a masonry drill or my son playing Fortnite!

He is perfectly house trained, but he rarely asks to go out. Lasts from 10pm to 7 am and doesn’t even want to go out then! doesn’t bark (about once in 4 days), accepts when you leave the house and doesn’t try to escape, loves adults and children but particularly when he can snuggle on a sofa, on walks, sits and waits by the road so good out with dogs and people (one dark night some crazy woman jumped out on us, he just went up for a cuddle), great recall (on long lead), sit down, paw, wait all automatic non reactive to dogs on walk, interested but not massively bothered. He had a small disagreement with one dog when out, but came to me immediately when called.

Interested in cats when out and half heartedly chases birds. Again he will ignore them when you ask him to, plays tug (strong but nicely) and fetch and will swap tug toy for treat, doesn’t jump up, I could go on and on. I believe he’d be a great companion for one person, a couple, or a family. He’s quiet and obviously an immensely handsome and stately dog. He’s still a bit thin but also not a greedy boy and will leave food when he’s had enough. He loves our garden and sitting quietly outside generally.

People always ask why I don’t keep my fosters, and it’s because I will go back to work full time soon but, if I won the lottery, this gorgeous, loving, gentle boy would be staying. I wonder how anyone could have left him behind, but now he needs a family that will appreciate him and his beautiful soul. I know this was long and my first report was best. ‘The perfect dog. The end!’
