Hendrix is a 23 month old male English Setter. Beautiful Hendix was rehomed to his lovely adopters in the UK in December 2017. Unfortunately his adopters are struggling to walk him since his mum has arthritis in her hands. His dad is taking him out to a secure area once a week but they don’t feel it is fair on him at such a young age and so have made the really hard decision to let him go somewhere he can have all the exercise he wants and needs.
Hendrix has very limited sight. His right eye was thought to be a cherry eye but unfortunately his eye has not developed properly and an ophthalmic vet confirmed that he is blind in this eye. Unfortunately the poor lad has also developed an inoperable cataract in his other eye. He does not let any of this hold him back though! Dogs cope extremely well with limited or no sight since they rely much more on their other senses than us.
He has attended dog training and gundog training and follows commands well. This training may take a knock when he is rehomed due to all the changes for him, but he has a very solid foundation to build upon. He is currently on a hypoallergenic diet after suffering form parasites when he was rescued which is working well for him.
We are looking for a dedicated adopter who has the time and patience to provide Hendrix with the love and exercise he needs in a safe environment due to his sight. We are happy to answer any questions regarding adopting a dog with limited sight. Their sight does not need to hold them back, it’s amazing what they can achieve.
