Dylan approx 3 year old rough coated Podenco boy – he roughly weights about 13 kilos so only Whippet size being fostered in Gloucestershire. This lovely boy I first met in Spain, so shut down the first time I saw him it was hard to do an assessment on him as he just stood there scared – it was very heart breaking – since coming to UK and going into foster its been lovely to see him blossom.
Dylan well we have nothing negative to say about him, he has obviously not had the best of lives before he came into rescue probably owned by a Spanish Hunter where they are harshly treated and probably chucked out as he was not a good hunting dog. He is a sensitive boy and still can get spooked easily but the way he has changed and is changing is amazing. He has settled into foster home very easily, has got the hang of toilet training, sleeps in his crate all night, has been going for long walks around the village and he walks beautifully on the lead, met other dogs with no problems.
We have let him off the lead but only in a secure field because he is still so nervous would be worried just in case he got spooked but over the field he does amazingly for Sight hound seem to have a recall and not interested in hunting but early days but maybe the reason he was chucked out. One of the evenings he was foster carer was out for a long time so he went to stay around another Starfish home for a few hours where he got on beautifully with the other dogs and the naughty lady introduced Dylan to the bed and like all Sight Hounds he took to it like a duck to water. We have some lovely videos of him below to give you a feel for him.
We feel Dylan would suit a quiet home, he loves to sleep and often just takes himself off to a sofa somewhere, he is not a difficult dog to live with and very loving, quite a home body. Not going to suit a busy home or person, he is adapting to home life but still finds the TV really scary. This gentle boy deserves the best of homes after the life he has had.
Dylan is neutered, vaccinated and has his own Pet Passport. If you feel you could be the right home for Dylan please email the rescue in the first instance for our questionnaire.
