Candy – 15 month old female Spanish Water Dog

Candy is a Spanish Water Dog mix, age fifteen months and medium size. Candy has been in her foster home in Burton on Trent since December last year. She has settled well and currently lives with 3 male dogs and 3 cats, foster mum and dad and children. She gets on well with dogs and cats and is very relaxed and happy with all her foster family. Candy is a girl that loves to play and have fun and likes nothing better than playing fetch the ball or snuggling up on the sofa with you. She was originally rescued in Spain and brought to foster in the UK. It has become apparent that Candy, has very likely, suffered abuse as a young pup but she has overcome this well.

Candy does though have an issue, only when strangers come into the home. Her behaviour can be aggressive and she can try to nip them. This could be a little fear or protecting her family and is being worked with. We do expect this behaviour to improve over time and stop. She needs an adopter experienced with dogs that can understand this and continue to help Candy with it with love and patience. She is not aggressive in any way at other times or outside the home. For this reason it is also essential that a potential adopter is able to visit Candy before a decision is made to move to a new home.

We would like to find Candy an adopter that has lots of patience and time. One who will continue with Candy’s learning and trust of humans. For this reason she needs a home without children please. Candy has an adoption fee of £350, she is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, flea and worm treated, blood tested and has her pet passport. Adoptions are subject to a standard homecheck and adoption contract.
