Poley – 8 year old female Beagle Cross

Poley is an attractive 8 year old Beagle Cross. He has great recall, especially if you have a treat, and loves his walks. He gets on fine with other dogs outside, although he largely ignores them, preferring to focus on his owner and smells! He would be okay to live with another dog, as long as they are fed separately, as he has a tendency to be possessive over his food. With dogs that is. So unless you have space for separation at feeding and are accustomed to that, we prefer him to be an only dog. He has excellent toilet training, preferring to only relieve himself on walks. Poley is fine left for a few hours.

Come evening he is not averse to a bit of a fuss and scratch or pat. But is not a dog always always seeking petting. He is somewhat aloof until evening time and is thoroughly relaxed. He is great with children, and is totally unphased by the noises and erratic play of young children. However, we do recommend visiting children only as Poley really loves his routine, something which is not always possible or rarely possible with a young family that he has to compete with, for time. It is evident that he needs to know when he is going to be walked and fed and that there are are clear rules and boundaries that he must observe.

If not he gets restless and makes this known by barking. He responds best to a firm male voice. If you can offer consistency and regular walks, then he will be your loyal and contented friend.
